Originally released in 2023 on CD, first by the Panamanian label Jaibanà Records and then by Vargheist Records in the USA, “Writhing Tomb Amongst The Stars” is the promising debut full length of VENOMOUS ECHOES, Benjamin Vanweelden’s project focused on blackened death metal that is as brutal as it is experimental.
“This album follows a man that gets stuck in a dream,” Vanweelden explains. “He awakes in a putrid, living tomb and goes through torturous procedures of transformation. Tentacles rip and pull him apart, reassembling him numerous times into something different.”
VENOMOUS ECHOES’ concept reflects Vanweelden’s struggle with his own body dysmorphia. A physical and mental discomfort that translates into chaotic compositions and cosmic horror atmospheres that the American musician narrates through tortured vocals and dissonant, angular riffs.
Available on vinyl for the first time and with a new and definitive cover by French artist 0ndes, “Writhing Tomb Amongst The Stars” is only VENOMOUS ECHOES’ first step towards a painful transformation – and consequent artistic maturation – which continues on the following album, “Split Formations and Infinite Mania,” reaching unprecedented levels of black/death sonic catharsis and creativity.
